Karbonn Smart Tab 1 Review- Pros and Cons

Karbonn Smart Tab 1 is hitting markets and the tablet is getting more popular and popular. The low cost Karbonn smart tab 1 is beating other tablets in India and everyone is behind this exciting Karbonn Smart Tab 1. The smart tab 1 is designed in an attractive way and when anyone looks on the tablet they will never think that the tablet is priced below 7K. The Karbonn Smart Tab 1 is white in color with black front and glass coverings at edge. The ports in Karbonn Smart Tab 1 are 3.5 mm jack, HDMI port, micro USB port and a charging socket. The ports are arranged wisely and does not disturbs the exciting look of the tablet. They are present at the left side of the tablet. The camera of Karbonn Smart Tab 1 is present at the top center which can be used for taking photographs and for video calls. The physical keys are power button, options, home and enter. I think one of the cons in design view of Karbonn Smart Tab 1 is its lack of volume key. If you want to reduce the volume of your video or song every time you need to look at the screen and press the touch screen which is not at all an user friendly. 

The software is latest Android 4.0.3 ICS which is a blessing for a budget tablet. Karbonn have provided some in-built apps like Karbonn browser, NextGTV, ingenic app market etc for their tablet. Karbonn Smart Tab 1 also contain inbuilt Google Play. But the sad thing is that majority of the apps in Google Play doesn't works with Karbonn Smart Tab 1. Even though Facebook and Angry Birds are pre-installed in the tablet they cannot be installed through Google Play if they get uninstalled. So the popular apps like Facebook, Temple Run, Angry Birds, Skype etc. doesn't works with Karbonn Smart Tab 1. When I check the Google website for compatibility devices I cannot find a single Karonn devices in the list. You can also manually check this here. So the developers who creates app does not consider Karbonn Smart Tab 1 because it is not present in the compatibility list. So 95% of apps in Google Play will not work with Karbonn Smart Tab 1. Also if you want to buy Karbonn Smart Tab 1 for video call, then the tablet is a bad choice because none of the video calling apps like Skype, Fring, Google Video Chat etc doesn't works with the Karbonn Smart Tab 1. I think Karbonn should provide some update for the Smart Tab 1 to make the apps in Google play to work with the tablet. But Karbonn has tied up with IBIBO to provide some games but the number is very much limited compared to Google Play.

Another notable feature of Karbonn Smart Tab 1 is its touch sensitivity and keyboard. Karbonn Smart Tab 1 has good sensitive touch screen and you can type in tablet with good speed and doesn't need multiple attempts. Keyboard works perfectly both in landscape and portrait mode. Multi-touch is also supported.

The display of Karbonn Smart Tab 1 is 7.2 inches wide. In my view the display is not so attractive and average in resolution. Viewing angle is also not fair,  but good for a budget tablet. The Karbonn Smart Tab 1 has a descent speaker which will provide good audio and it is not crystal clear. All major audio and video formats are supported by Karbonn Smart Tab 1.The sensors like gravity sensor and gyro sensor also works fine and good for gaming experience.  The camera of Karbonn Smart Tab 1 is not so excellent. With 2 MP camera you cannot expect much quality for photographs and videos taken by it but it will be descend for video call. 

Another major attraction of Karbonn Smart Tab 1 is its battery. The tablet comes with 3700 mAh battery. The battery life is pretty good and you can watch a full HD movie before running out of battery and also can surf internet using WiFi for 4-5 hours. Some hardware specs which Karbonn Smart Tab 1 lags are Bluetooth, GPS and in-built 3G. Even though the tablet doesn't have in-built 3G, you can use 3G dongles for surfing internet. Karbonn Smart Tab 1 does not supports all 3G dongles and it will support only the lists they provided.

Karbonn Smart Tab 1 comes with 1.2 GHz burst processor. The tablet is not so good in performance. Sometimes the tablet hangs and the only way to restore it back is by waiting for the battery to get over because it lags reset button. It shows delay in opening apps. But once the apps are opened the apps works perfectly and no hanging issues were found.

If you are aware of apps and also love them I think you should not buy Karbonn Smart Tab 1 now because they have a major problem with Google Play. So wait until company is providing some updates or can try other tablets with this budget supporting Google Play. If you love to watch videos and hear songs and need some document editing in a cheap device then you can go back with Karbonn Smart Tab 1.
